I found this book through a woman in my book club. We were talking about books with beautiful covers and she pointed out this one. After seeing the cover, I was intrigued and read the summary. It sounded good to me so I got it. And I’m so glad I did. Here’s the summary from Goodreads.
“Azalea and her younger sisters dance in the mysterious silver forest every night, escaping from the sadness of the palace and their father’s grief. What they don’t understand—although as time passes they begin to get an inkling of the danger they are in—is that the mysterious and dashing Keeper is tightening his snare with deadly purpose. Luckily, Azalea is brave and steadfast. Luckily, a handsome young army captain also has his eye on Azalea. . . . Lush, romantic, and compelling, this debut novel by Heather Dixon will thrill fans of Shannon Hale, Robin McKinley, and Edith Pattou.”
This was a beautiful book. I loved the imagery and the way the author told this story. The way magic was entwined (no pun intended) throughout the story was great. The 12 princesses names were even clever. I loved that they were from A-L. Keeper was such an interesting character as well. And watching the princesses’ relationship with the King grow and change was intriguing.
