So, of course I was going to read this book. The author is a member of my online book club and this is her debut novel. Our entire book club has been pretty excited to read this book as we anxiously awaited the release. It finally came out earlier this week. Here’s the Goodreads summary.
“When Mae-June July Augustine hightailed it out of Sultry Springs, Texas, with her heart in pieces, she swore she’d never return. But nine years later, one thing stands between June and her dream of opening an upscale martini bar: a month of community service under the supervision of the devilishly sexy Luke Gallagher, her first love and ex-best friend. As lust turns to love, June must decide where she belongs: in the glorious anonymity of Austin or back in Sultry Springs with the man who intoxicates her like no other.”
LOVED this book! I laughed. I cried. I had many face-hurting smiling moments. It was great!
June is an awesome character that you can’t help but adore. She’s quick witted, fiercely loyal, and clumsy as heck. You just have to love her.
Luke is H.O.T. Yes, he is a completely stubborn ass, but the hotness makes up for it!
June & Luke’s story is filled with so much fun, love, sexiness, devotion, and yet also stubbornness, confusion, miscommunication, tragedy and more. And I have to say…there were quite a few moments in this story where I needed to fan myself. Lots of steaminess!
The supporting characters were such a great addition to this story. I’m excited to read more about Pru, Trey, Judge Bea, and the others in the rest of this series. They all brought their own personality to this lovely book.
